Unlike previous MacBook models, where the battery is secured with stretch-release adhesive tabs or strong glue, the MacBook Neo uses a screw-mounted battery housed in a tray. Removing the battery requires taking out just 18 screws and then simply lifting it out..

According to iFixit, the easier battery removal may be part of Apple’s efforts to comply with EU’s new Batteries Regulation, which requires portable devices sold in the EU to feature user-replaceable batteries.

That said, some components remain difficult to replace, including the RAM, storage, and keyboard. Even so, iFixit awarded the MacBook Neo a repairability score of 6 out of 10 — its highest score for a Mac in 14 years. By comparison, the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5, 2025) and 13-inch MacBook Air (M4) received scores of 4 and 5, respectively.

<picture></picture>Play

You can read our review of the MacBook Neo here.

Source: iFixit, Tech Re-Nu

As with any new Apple product, teardown videos for the MacBook Neo surfaced almost immediately, and two early videos suggest Apple’s most affordable laptop is…

[32
4428,4147,818,8330,18566,59
post-37765","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-gadgets-reviews","tag-apples","tag-mac","tag-macbook","tag-neo","tag-repairfriendly","tag-years","wpcat-32-id
["GET
