{"id":37506,"date":"2026-03-19T08:04:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T00:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=37506"},"modified":"2026-03-19T08:04:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T00:04:38","slug":"one-person-dead-one-taken-to-hospital-after-fire-at-choa-chu-kang-flat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=37506","title":{"rendered":"One person dead, one taken to hospital after fire at Choa Chu Kang flat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE: A person died and another was taken to hospital after a fire at a Choa Chu Kang flat on Thursday (Mar 19).<\/p>\n<p>The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at Block 763 Choa Chu Kang North 5 at about 3am.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fire involved a bedroom of a unit on the 14th floor&#8221;, SCDF said in its Facebook post on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>During the firefighting operation, someone was found inside the unit, it said, adding that the person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.<\/p>\n<p>Someone else from the affected unit who had evacuated before SCDF\u2019s arrival was assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to Singapore General Hospital, SCDF added.<\/p>\n<p>Two other people from the affected block were assessed for smoke inhalation, but declined to be brought to the hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>About 70 people were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a &#8220;precautionary measure&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>SCDF extinguished the fire with two water jets and the cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>CNA has contacted the police for more information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/one-person-dead-fire-choa-chu-kang-north-5-flat-fire-scdf-6002926\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article At Source <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINGAPORE: A person died and another was taken to hospital after a fire at a Choa Chu Kang flat on Thursday (Mar 19).
