{"id":36881,"date":"2026-03-17T11:19:35","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=36881"},"modified":"2026-03-17T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:19:35","slug":"possible-road-signs-markings-for-erp-2-being-tested-by-lta-in-bayshore-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=36881","title":{"rendered":"Possible road signs, markings for ERP 2 being tested by LTA in Bayshore Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 Possible road signs and markings for the new Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system are being trialled on a road in the East Coast area, ahead of the system\u2019s implementation from Jan 1, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Pictures accompanying a Land Transport Authority (LTA) Facebook post on March 16 show blue circles \u2013 each containing a white \u201cE\u201d \u2013 painted in the middle of lanes, as well as a section of a road that is painted completely in blue and accompanied by road signs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The authority said in the Facebook post that the temporary markings will be in place in Bayshore Drive, which is near Bayshore MRT station and Temasek Secondary School, for a month for selected participants to give their feedback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">These participants will gauge how well these road signs and markings alert drivers ahead of the ERP charging locations without an ERP gantry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">LTA also assured motorists that they will not be charged if they drive through the test site during the trial, and that the trial will be progressively expanded to more locations to gather motorists\u2019 feedback ahead of the ERP 2 implementation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/politics\/spore-to-fully-switch-to-new-erp-system-on-jan-1-2027-new-bill-to-make-on-board-unit-compulsory?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">Singapore will fully switch to ERP 2<\/span><\/a>, which uses satellite technology instead of gantries, from Jan 1, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Under the new system, motorists will be alerted to ERP charging locations through clear road signs and road markings, supported by on-board unit (OBU) notifications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">As at February, about 930,000 vehicles \u2013 93 per cent of the total number here \u2013 have been fitted with an OBU, with LTA saying then that it was on track to complete the installation exercise by 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">LTA said then that it would start to dismantle the ERP gantries later in 2026, starting with those that are not operational.
