It has only taken a little over 5 years, but the AirPods Max \u2013 Apple\u2019s flagship over-ear wireless headphone \u2013 finally has a successor.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s called the AirPods Max 2<\/b>, and while it may look identical to its predecessor, there are some important updates under the proverbial hood.<\/p>\n
It now comes with the H2 chip<\/b>, which enables a number of new features and improvements. To start, Apple claims that active noise cancellation is now 1.5x more effective.<\/b> It also says that Transparency mode on the AirPods Max 2 should sound even more natural. <\/p>\n The AirPods Max 2 looks just like its predecessor.<\/p>\n Photo: Apple<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Having the H2 chip also means it has Adaptive Audio<\/b>, the in-between mode that automatically adjusts the level of noise cancellation and Transparency to ensure owners get the best audio experience depending on their environment. <\/p>\n Live Translation<\/b> will also be available on these headphones. This can be activated by pressing and holding on to the listening mode button.<\/p>\n The drivers appear to be unchanged, but they are now paired with a new \u201chigh dynamic range amplifier\u201d, which Apple says delivers \u201ccleaner audio\u201d and improved spatial audio.<\/p>\n Fussy listeners will be happy to know that the AirPods Max 2 continue to support hi-res lossless audio of up to 24-bit\/48kHz when used in wired mode<\/b>.
