{"id":35241,"date":"2026-03-11T01:09:36","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T17:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=35241"},"modified":"2026-03-11T01:09:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T17:09:36","slug":"customers-flock-to-orchard-road-spa-seeking-answers-after-irresponsible-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=35241","title":{"rendered":"Customers flock to Orchard Road spa seeking answers after &#8216;irresponsible&#8217; closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Customers of <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stomp.sg\/singapore-seen\/customer-left-over-5000-unused-packages-after-orchard-road-spa-closes-down-i-trusted\" target=\"_blank\" data-discover=\"true\">Royal Secrets Wellness<\/a><\/span>, which announced its closure last week, have reportedly racked up thousands in unused packages, prompting some to head down to the spa to demand solutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The spa provider, located along Killiney Road in Orchard, ceased operations on Feb 28, nearly 30 years after it opened its doors.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">&#8216;Irresponsible&#8217; closure<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">When <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaobao.com.sg\/news\/singapore\/story20260307-8694814\" target=\"_blank\">Shin Min Daily News<\/a><\/span> visited the spa on the afternoon of 6 March, about 10 customers were seen flocking to the outlet within an hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The group of customers told the Chinese daily that they had purchased packages from the spa over the years, ranging from $3,000 to $50,000 in value.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">With the spa&#8217;s closure, the value of unfulfilled packages among the group of customers reportedly exceeded $200,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Ms Su (transliterated from Chinese), 51, told Shin Min that she still has about $50,000 worth of unused packages and is dissatisfied with the spa&#8217;s handling of its closure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;My friend said the spa was about to close, so I rushed down to check. I initially thought it would be good enough to salvage $30,000 in packages, but they ended up being forfeited,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">A notice posted at the spa&#8217;s entrance stated that several salons are offering assistance out of goodwill. Affected customers were advised to scan a QR code and leave their contact details.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Several customers stated that &#8220;valid&#8221; packages can be &#8220;transferred&#8221; to other wellness centres in exchange for credits worth up to $1,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">However, another affected customer \u2014 identified as Ms Huang \u2014 said only packages signed between March 1, 2024 and Feb 28 this year will be &#8220;compensated&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;This is very irresponsible. They did not tell us beforehand. I only learnt about this from my therapist,&#8221; said the 44-year-old.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">Salaries reportedly owed<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Beauticians affected by Royal Secrets Wellness&#8217; closure have reportedly been transferred to other beauty centres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">A person familiar with the matter told Shin Min that these beauticians will be hired under new terms and have to observe a three-month probation period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Additionally, the Chinese daily understands that some of their salaries and commissions remain unpaid.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">15 complaints regarding closure: Case<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Royal Secrets Wellness announced its closure in a <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100093533329405\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook post on Feb 28<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Describing the move as an &#8220;incredibly difficult decision&#8221;, the spa said it is &#8220;working with several established spa service provider(s)&#8221; to assist customers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">In response to Stomp&#8217;s queries, Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) president Melvin Yong, who is also the MP for Radin Mas, confirmed that it has received 15 complaints regarding Royal Secrets Wellness&#8217; closure as of March 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The cases involve more than $153,000 in unutilised prepaid balances.
