In a recent interview with popping_sg, Malaysian content creator\u00a0Jestinna Kuan\u00a0and her boyfriend, YouTuber\u00a0Danny Lee, were directly asked to compare earnings in the creator scene across the two neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n
While the 30-year-old influencer \u2014 one of the three well-known Malaysian Kuan siblings \u2014\u00a0didn\u2019t give a straightforward answer, her response made the implication pretty clear.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh\u2026 it\u2019s why I often find jobs in Singapore,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n
That said, when asked if they’d still choose to stay in Malaysia for work or enter the Singaporean market, the couple remained patriotic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“It’s definitely Malaysia. I love Malaysia,” chirped Jestinna who even broke into a dance.<\/p>\n
Jestinna and Danny were also told to give a shout out to their social media peers in Singapore, to which the former quipped: “I come to Singapore for work very often, so I have to watch what I say”.<\/p>\n
“We excel in different areas,” she then added.<\/p>\n
Danny, on the other hand, thinks there’s something Singaporean content creators can work on.<\/p>\n
“Singapore can really improve on your Chinese New Year songs,” he cackled. “We have been producing Chinese New Year songs in Malaysia for a longer period of time, so in this area, we can all continue to work hard together!”<\/p>\n
As Jestinna emphasised that content creators in both countries are “all friends”, Danny then averred that the biggest difference between us is in our slangs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Singaporeans speak in an interesting way,” he said, prompting Jestinna to highlight the Singlish word “sia”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
