Is there trouble brewing in the marriage of Charmaine Hui<\/a>, daughter of the late Hong Kong actor Benz Hui<\/a>, and her Singaporean banker husband<\/a>, Shane Sim?<\/p>\n Hong Kong media seem to think so after Charmaine, 28, who recently signed with artiste management company Chessman HK as a professional host<\/a>, sidestepped questions about her marriage.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, Chessman, founded by Hong Kong TV and radio personality\u00a0Bob Lam<\/a>, held a press conference to officially introduce its new artistes.<\/p>\n During the event, the conversation somehow drifted to dating and ideal partners. While two of the single female artistes joked about getting Bob \u2014 nicknamed the \u201cgold medal matchmaker\u201d<\/a> \u2014 to introduce them to suitable men, Charmaine unexpectedly chimed in and even shared her own criteria for a partner.<\/p>\n That immediately raised eyebrows.<\/p>\n After all, Charmaine and Shane tied the knot<\/a> in December 2023. The pair met through mutual friends when she was 18 and dated for six years before he\u00a0proposed in September 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dubbed an \u201cacademic overlord\u201d by Hong Kong media, Shane holds a Master\u2019s degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as well as a double degree in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.<\/p>\n Their star-studded wedding<\/a> made headlines at the time, with Benz reportedly gifting the couple a Singapore property worth around HK$23mil (S$3.75mil).<\/p>\n So when reporters later asked about her marital status, all ears were on her.<\/p>\n Charmaine, however, kept things vague. Instead of addressing the question directly, she said: \u201cAt this stage, work is my priority,\u201d and added that she hopes everyone will focus on her career.<\/p>\n She also laughed off her earlier comments, saying she was just going along with the atmosphere.<\/p>\n Bob quickly stepped in to steer the conversation back to work, revealing that Charmaine will soon be hosting a concert press conference and asking the media to support her new career path instead.<\/p>\n Charmaine previously ran two\u00a0cafes<\/a>, Cafe Bakeholic and Juju, in Singapore but gave them up in 2025 to return to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n She had begun filming videos and creating online content with her father before his passing, and is now hoping to carve out a name for herself as a host.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
