What\u2019s so robotic about a Robot Phone?<\/h2>\n
In case you missed it, Honor <\/b>chose the Robot Phone<\/b> as its main highlight at the Chinese brand\u2019s MWC 2026 event, and for good reason. This unique concept phone has a mechanical arm at the top, containing a camera and motorised gimbal. This stabilised camera\u2019s main draw is the subject tracking<\/b> offered during filming. When it\u2019s not in use, it tucks away neatly in a hidden compartment on the back.<\/p>\n The robot arm can say hello, world.<\/p>\n Photo: Honor<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n We can partly understand why Honor chose to feature a non-commercial product at a global showcase; it has put a lot of work into building this concept device. For example, Honour reduced the motor size by 70% to fit the 4DoF gimbal<\/b> system in the phone. Thanks to the 3-axis gimbal, the Robot Phone\u2019s main 200MP camera can flip out to film regular content, or flip to the front to interact with the user.<\/p>\n With \u201cembodied AI\u201d interaction, this robotic arm can also scry like a \u201cseeing-eye\u201d for the phone\u2019s contextual use. If you wave at it, it\u2019ll wave back. If you ask it a question, it can nod or shake to answer. Additionally, the robotic arm will be able to follow you around during video calls or even dance to music.\u00a0While these aren\u2019t as practical as video recording or photography, the capabilities are critical to showcasing its flexibility and possible use cases.<\/p>\n Gimbal-level stabilisation on the Robot Phone.<\/p>\n Photo: Honor<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n More helpful features included thus far are AI object tracking and AI Spinshot, which slowly spins the camera as you film for a cinematic effect.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, that\u2019s most of what we know about the Robot Phone.
