The majority of respondents (57%) report getting a good night’s sleep only four nights a week or fewer. This highlights a persistent gap between knowing sleep is critical and being able to prioritise it as part of a healthy lifestyle.

The survey shows that wearable use for sleep tracking has surged among respondents, increasing from 21% in 2025 to 65% in 2026. Smartwatches lead the way, with 59% of respondents in Singapore using them to track their sleep. Among wearable users, 54% say they would seek medical advice if their device flagged a potential risk. However, follow-through remains a challenge. While 60% of Singapore respondents say they would consult a healthcare provider for persistent sleep issues, only 16% have done so. Only 32% say a healthcare provider has asked about sleep during a routine visit.

READ MORE: The rise of the ‘wellness-first’ corporate strategy in a multigenerational world

Everyday pressures are also shaping sleep patterns. More than half of respondents (53%) agree that heavy workloads negatively affect their sleep. About 72% of respondents report taking a “snooze day”—calling in sick after a poor night’s sleep—at least once a year. At the same time, 58% say flexible working arrangements help them better manage their sleep. Insufficient sleep is also linked to higher risks of anxiety and depression. After a poor night’s sleep, more than a third of Singapore respondents report a reduced ability to concentrate (38%), followed by higher levels of irritability (33%) and stress (32%).

In terms of lifestyle and education, 82% of Singapore respondents believe that sleep health should be taught in schools from an early age. Additionally, 82% think that getting enough sleep is a key factor in physical attractiveness, as sleep facilitates cellular repair and skin health. While 8% of respondents turn to alcohol to help them sleep, the findings note that alcohol disrupts rest later in the night and is associated with a higher risk of sleep apnea.

“People are increasingly recognising sleep as a cornerstone to long-term health, which is encouraging,” said Dr Carlos Nunez, Chief Medical Officer at Resmed. “But recognition alone is not enough. We need to help people move from awareness to action by addressing everyday barriers and improving access to screening, support and care.”

A widening gap between the recognition of sleep’s importance and the actions taken to improve sleep health is a key finding from the sixth annual…

[2611

post-33935","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-buzz-headlines","wpcat-2611-id
["GET
