Singaporean with rhinitis slams cigarette littering in Singapore, says it\u2019s time to \u2018generate awareness\u2019<\/h2>\n

A Singaporean has taken to Facebook to vent frustration over cigarette butt littering and second-hand smoke, saying it is time to \u201cgenerate awareness\u201d after years of enduring the issue.<\/p>\n

In a post shared on Thursday (19 Feb), the Original Poster (OP) said they have been picking up discarded cigarette butts thrown by \u201cirresponsible smokers\u201d<\/a> for many years.<\/p>\n

Says littering has become habitual<\/h3>\n

In the post, the OP claimed that beyond clearing cigarette butts, they have also had to tolerate what they described as \u201cirresponsible trailing smoke\u201d.<\/p>\n

They suggested that part of the problem lies in offenders being \u201callowed\u201d to litter without facing consequences, leading such behaviour to become habitual.<\/p>\n

Frustrated by the situation, the OP said they intend to initiate \u201cmeaningful projects\u201d to address pollution and cleanliness. They added that they wish to raise more awareness regarding pollution and littering in Singapore.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want my voice to be heard on social issues,\u201d the OP wrote.<\/p>\n

I no longer want to be considerate and kind to people who do not care about the environmental impacts of pollution and cleanliness.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Rhinitis worsened by dirty air<\/h3>\n

Sharing more about their personal struggles, the OP said exposure to smoke aggravates their rhinitis.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, please don\u2019t tell me to mind my own business,\u201d they added. \u201cThere are many others, young and old, who face different health challenges in life who will be affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

The OP said it is important to take action \u201cfor the future of our children\u201d. They described the effort as a personal mission to promote responsibility and stronger social norms.<\/p>\n
