Politically charged thriller One Battle After Another<\/em> took six prizes, including best picture, at the British Academy Film Awards (Baftas) on Sunday, building momentum ahead of the Oscars next month.<\/p>\n

Blues-steeped vampire epic Sinners<\/em> and gothic horror story Frankenstein<\/em> won three awards each, while Shakespearean family tragedy Hamnet<\/em> was named best British film.<\/p>\n

Jessie Buckley, as widely predicted, won the best actress prize for playing a grieving mother and wife of William Shakespeare, Agnes Hathaway, in Hamnet<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In a major upset, Robert Aramayo took the best actor prize for the British indie film I Swear<\/em>, beating stars including Leonardo DiCaprio and Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet.<\/p>\n

One Battle After Another<\/em>, Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s explosive film about a group of revolutionaries in conflict with the state, won the awards for directing, adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and Sean Penn\u2019s supporting performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
