{"id":27243,"date":"2026-01-10T01:18:38","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T17:18:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=27243"},"modified":"2026-01-10T01:18:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T17:18:38","slug":"firefighter-taken-to-hospital-for-heat-exhaustion-100-people-evacuated-after-blaze-in-tampines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=27243","title":{"rendered":"Firefighter taken to hospital for heat exhaustion, 100 people evacuated after blaze in Tampines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 A firefighter was taken to Changi General Hospital after experiencing heat exhaustion while fighting a fire that broke out in Tampines on Jan 9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">About 100 people were evacuated from Block 29 Tampines Street 86 as a precaution after the fire broke out in a bedroom on the 15th floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a Facebook post on Jan 9, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it had been alerted to the fire at 9.05pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">No one was inside the unit at the time of the fire, said SCDF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cFirefighters conducted forcible entry into the smoke-filled unit and extinguished the fire with two water jets,\u201d it added. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The fire was largely confined to the bedroom, and its cause is under investigation, said SCDF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In its post, SCDF advised people to extinguish lighted materials, such as candles, before leaving home.
