Samsung showcased its first crease-less foldable OLED<\/b> panel at CES 2026, a technology that could eventually make its way into the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Apple\u2019s rumoured foldable iPhone.<\/p>\n
Compared to the foldable OLED used in the Galaxy Z Fold7, the new display shows no visible crease, leading Samsung to promote it as delivering \u201cseamless text across the fold<\/b>\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung may adopt a laser-drilled metal display plate for its next Galaxy Z Fold. Supplied by South Korean firm Fine M-Tec, the component reportedly helps disperse the stress generated during screen bending, enabling a crease-free viewing experience. Fine M-Tec is also believed to be supplying the same component to Apple.<\/p>\n
Separately, reports suggest Apple plans to use liquid metal for the hinge mechanism of its foldable iPhone. This is said to improve durability, enhance screen flatness, and further minimise crease marks. A \u201cnearly invisible crease\u201d and a \u201cmuch higher-quality hinge\u201d are tipped to be key differentiators for Apple\u2019s foldable iPhone. <\/p>\n
That said, it would not be surprising if Samsung\u2019s new OLED panel ultimately finds its way into the Galaxy Z Fold8, and possibly Apple\u2019s foldable iPhone as well. Apple is expected to enter the foldable phone market later this year.<\/p>\n
