In the 34-second clip, Rain can be heard asking attendees: &#8220;Why are you doing this?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;If you&#8217;re this quiet, we can&#8217;t have fun,&#8221; he adds. &#8220;Are you really going to party like this?&#8221; The crowd cheers in response, growing louder with each prompt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">In the caption, jeremytan5187 called out the singer&#8217;s behaviour, saying that Rain sounded &#8220;sarcastic&#8221; and &#8220;pissed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;Audience was pissed too and many left early before it ends [sic]! No encore. Most boring concert,&#8221; the attendee wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">In another clip, Rain repeatedly asks the audience: &#8220;Are you ready?&#8221; and shaking his head when the crowd cheers. &#8220;I think you don&#8217;t have responsibility,&#8221; he says, which jeremytan5187 called &#8220;so awkward&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">Other netizens &#8216;had a blast&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Some netizens agreed with Rain, with one likening concerts in Singapore to a &#8220;company annual dinner&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;Each country citizen [sic] has their distinct culture and personality. Let&#8217;s respect that,&#8221; another netizen chimed in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">While some fans commented that they enjoyed the concert, others took issue with the Korean&#8217;s &#8220;condescending&#8221; tone, arguing that fans were &#8220;insulted&#8221; or &#8220;lectured&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;You are the entertainer, so you must lift the mood. You are paid to do it,&#8221; one netizen wrote.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">&#8216;Singapore doesn&#8217;t owe performers noise&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">When the clip went viral, TikTok user @rain2peace, who often posts commentary on social issues, <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@rain2peace\/photo\/7590432002445249813?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7503766978081146389\" target=\"_blank\">said in a Jan 2 post that &#8220;Singapore doesn&#8217;t owe performers noise&#8221;.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The assumption that &#8220;Singaporean audiences are somehow inferior because they don&#8217;t shout on command&#8221; is misguided, he wrote, noting that local fans value listening over cheering.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">He noted that Singapore culture emphasises restraint, and many concerts are held indoors, making nonstop chanting &#8220;unrealistic, and frankly inconsiderate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">&#8220;Artists are entitled to prefer louder crowds.
