Ravi, was handed a fresh drug-related charge on Jan 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Shawn Loo Zhi Jian, 40, is now accused of consuming methamphetamine on or before Dec 24, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Loo is represented by lawyer Ashvin Hariharan, and his case has been adjourned to Jan 28.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He was first charged on Dec 26, 2025, with arranging a gathering where controlled drugs were consumed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Loo allegedly arranged a gathering with Mr Ravi to consume methamphetamine at an Upper Boon Keng Road flat on Dec 24 between 1am and 5am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Mr Ravi was 56 when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/former-lawyer-m-ravi-found-dead-police-investigating-unnatural-death?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">he died on Dec 24.<\/p>\n<p><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The police previously said he had consumed drugs with a friend before he was found unconscious at the flat that day. Paramedics responded to a call at around\u00a05.40am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Present with him was the friend who said he had been taking drugs with Mr Ravi several hours earlier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">He told the authorities that Mr Ravi had reacted to the drugs, prompting the friend to call for help and administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mr Ravi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The man was arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), and Mr Ravi was taken to hospital, where he later died. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">A joint statement by the police and CNB on Dec 26 said CNB officers had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/man-who-admitted-to-taking-drugs-with-ex-lawyer-m-ravi-to-be-charged-on-dec-26?ref=latest-headlines&amp;ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">seized some drug-related items from the flat.<\/p>\n<p><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The man\u2019s\u00a0urine had tested positive for a controlled drug in an instant urine test, and his urine samples would be sent to the Health Sciences Authority for testing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Both men had known each other since 2023 and met through a social networking app.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The joint statement added: \u201cThe 40-year-old man stated that they had met at the man\u2019s flat on Dec 24 to consume drugs which allegedly came from both of them, and engage in other activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Anyone convicted of arranging a gathering to consume controlled drugs can be jailed for up to 20 years and given 10 strokes of the cane. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">For drug consumption, an offender can be jailed for up to 10 years, fined up to $20,000, or both.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"tags-test-id\">\n<p><button data-testid=\"button-test-id\" class=\"layer-one border-default border interactive-button text-primary disabled:layer-disabled hover:disabled:layer-disabled default\" aria-label=\"button for Drug offences\"><span class=\"font-button-md-semibold\">Drug offences<\/span><\/button><button data-testid=\"button-test-id\" class=\"layer-one border-default border interactive-button text-primary disabled:layer-disabled hover:disabled:layer-disabled default\" aria-label=\"button for Singapore courts\"><span class=\"font-button-md-semibold\">Singapore courts<\/span><\/button><button data-testid=\"button-test-id\" class=\"layer-one border-default border interactive-button text-primary disabled:layer-disabled hover:disabled:layer-disabled default\" aria-label=\"button for Crime\"><span class=\"font-button-md-semibold\">Crime<\/span><\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/courts-crime\/m-ravis-death-friend-charged-with-taking-drugs-with-the-ex-lawyer-handed-fresh-charge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article At Source <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINGAPORE \u2013 The man who allegedly took drugs with former lawyer Ravi Madasamy, better known as M.
