Although Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> copies were made for PS4, the game’s new value comes from using a PS5 to play it via backward compatibility.<\/p>\n

Originally released in early 2002, Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> was a PS2-exclusive sequel to Star Wars Episode 1: Racer<\/em>. Racer Revenge<\/em> takes place approximately eight years following the events of The Phantom Menace<\/em>, with the podracer Sebulba seeking payback against Anakin Skywalker for defeating him in the Boonta Eve Classic. Sebulba’s defeat happened just before the young Skywalker had left Tattooine to train as a Jedi. Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> was re-launched digitally on the PS3 and PS4 throughout the 2010s, with the PS4 version making it onto physical discs via Limited Run Games. True to the publisher’s name, around 8,500 copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> from Limited Run Games were released for the PS4 in October 2019.<\/p>\n

As of this writing, copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> can be found for around $250 to $300 on average. The price hike is both due to the PS5 jailbreak and the fact that only 8,500 copies of the PS4 port were ever made by Limited Run Games during its 2019 run. In short, the upcoming version 12.0 jailbreak of the PS5 system can only be done via physical copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em>. This is due to a bug that is only present within the version of Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> that was printed onto PS4 discs. This bug allows users to inject code via the game’s Hall of Fame menu. By jailbreaking a PS5 console, users can then play pirated games on it. Although game companies have stepped up their efforts to crack down on piracy across the industry, that has not stopped users from finding ways to jailbreak a console and play pirated games on them. Fans looking to just play Star Wars Racer Revenge<\/em> on PS4 or PS5 without paying for a physical copy can do so by purchasing the game on the PlayStation Store for $5.99 or by subscribing to PlayStation Plus Premium.<\/p>\n
