{"id":25252,"date":"2026-01-02T20:43:39","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T12:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=25252"},"modified":"2026-01-02T20:43:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T12:43:39","slug":"sia-is-4th-most-punctual-airline-in-asia-pacific-philippine-airlines-tops-regional-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=25252","title":{"rendered":"SIA is 4th most punctual airline in Asia-Pacific; Philippine Airlines tops regional ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE &#8211; National carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) was the <!-- -->fourth<!-- --> most punctual airline in the Asia-Pacific region <!-- -->in <!-- -->2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/transport\/sia-ranked-third-most-punctual-airline-in-asia-pacific-behind-japans-jal-and-ana?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">slipping from third place<\/p>\n<p><\/a> in <!-- -->2024<!-- -->.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Its on-time performance score was <!-- -->78.58<!-- --> per cent, a small dip from the previous year\u2019s score of <!-- -->78.67<!-- --> per cent, according to a report released on <!-- -->Jan 2 by aviation analytics firm Cirium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Topping the list of most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific was <!-- -->Philippine Airline<!-- -->s, which <!-- -->scored <!-- -->8<!-- -->3.12<!-- --> per cent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In 2024, it was ranked <!-- -->seventh,<!-- --> with a score of <!-- -->76.06<!-- --> per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Air New Zealand and Japan\u2019s All Nippon Airways<!-- --> were second and third in 2025, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">New Zealand\u2019s national carrier was just behind SIA in 2024\u2019s ranking, coming in <!-- -->fourth<!-- -->. All Nippon Airways had come in<!-- --> second<!-- --> that year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Straits Times has contacted SIA for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The data used to consolidate the rankings <!-- -->was taken<!-- --> from <!-- -->more than 600<!-- --> sources of real-time flight information, said the report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">A passenger flight is considered on time if it arrives <!-- -->at <!-- -->or departs <!-- -->from <!-- -->the gate within <!-- -->15 minutes<!-- --> of its scheduled time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">On-time arrivals are used to <!-- -->assess <!-- -->airlines, while on-time departures are used to rank airports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Globally<!-- -->, <!-- -->Mexico\u2019s <!-- -->Aeromexico<!-- --> retained its ranking as the <!-- -->world\u2019s <!-- -->most punctual airline, <!-- -->with a score of 90.02 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In second place with a score of 86.53 per cent was<!-- --> <!-- -->Saudia<!-- -->, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, <!-- -->which was also No. 2 in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Third place<!-- --> went to <!-- -->Scandinavian Airlines<!-- -->  \u2013 better known as <!-- -->SAS<!-- --> \u2013 which had a score of <!-- -->86.09<!-- --> per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">No Singapore carrier was ranked in the top 10 globally for on-time performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Besides airlines, the <!-- -->Cirium <!-- -->report also ranked the most punctual airports, grouping them according to size. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Changi Airport did not feature in any of the rankings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The most punctual large airport \u2013 one that has <!-- -->25 million to 40 million outgoing passengers <!-- -->a year<!-- --> \u2013 was <!-- -->Santiago\u2019s Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Chilean airport had an on-time performance score of <!-- -->87.04 per cent.<!-- --> <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Following it were <!-- -->Riyadh\u2019s King Khalid International Airport<!-- --> (<!-- -->86.81<!-- --> per cent) and <!-- -->Mexico City\u2019s Benito Juarez International Airport (86.55 per cent).<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In the medium airport category <!-- -->(<!-- -->15 million to 25 million outgoing passengers)<!-- -->, the winner was once again <!-- -->Panama City\u2019s Tocumen International Airport<!-- -->, which had a score of <!-- -->93.34<!-- --> per cent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Among <!-- -->small airports <!-- -->(five million to 15 million outgoing passengers)<!-- -->, the top place <!-- -->again <!-- -->went to <!-- -->2024\u2019s<!-- --> winner J<!-- -->ose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, Ecuador.<!-- -->
