US Ambassador Anjani Sinha says S\u2019pore\u2019s hawker food is \u2018amazing\u2019<\/h2>\n

Almost two months after arriving in Singapore, United States Ambassador Anjani K. Sinha has had his first hawker experience here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Some of the dishes he tried were Hainanese chicken rice and ice kacang<\/em>, according to a Facebook post by the U.S. Embassy Singapore on Wednesday (31 Dec).<\/p>\n

US Ambassador visits \u2018iconic\u2019 Tiong Bahru Market<\/h3>\n

As 2025 came to a close, Dr Sinha said he was \u201cgrateful\u201d to share his \u201cfirst hawker experience in Singapore\u201d with his family and colleagues at the embassy.<\/p>\n

Posing for photos at Tiong Bahru Market, he added that he had a \u201cwonderful time\u201d visiting one of the city\u2019s \u201ciconic\u201d hawker centres.<\/p>\n

He also took a photo opportunity in front of Tiong Bahru Lee Hong Kee Cantonese Roasted, one of the market\u2019s most established names.<\/p>\n

US Ambassador tries \u2018amazing\u2019 hawker food<\/h3>\n

Of course, Dr Sinha also tried out the market\u2019s \u201camazing food\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Various hawker favourites were displayed on his table, each dish conveniently labelled for the diners.<\/p>\n

Seen in the photos were chicken rice, fried Hokkien mee (labelled as \u201cfried sotong prawn mee\u201d), both black and white fried carrot cake, lontong and curry rice.<\/p>\n

They were even given packets of tissue paper which had the word \u201cChope!\u201d on them, perhaps to help familiarise them with the well-known Singaporean practice of choping tables.<\/p>\n

Another photo showed Dr Sinha holding his spoon over a bowl of ice kacang<\/em>, apparently about to tuck into it.<\/p>\n
