Google has a support page that says the company is offering users the opportunity to change their @gmail.com email address<\/b>. <\/p>\n
This is great news if you\u2019ve been living with an embarrassing email address that you created while you were younger and less wise, or perhaps if you\u2019ve changed your name.<\/p>\n
The support page, which is available in Hindi, says:<\/p>\n
The email address on your Google Account is the address you use to sign in to Google services. This email address allows you and others to identify your account. If you wish, you can change the email address on your Google account, the last of which is gmail.com. This can be replaced with a new email address whose last part is gmail.com.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The way it works is straightforward and quite thoughtful. After changing to a new email address, the old one will function as an alias<\/b>. This means you will receive mail at your new address, and also mail from your old address. Data, photos, messages, and emails sent to the old address will be unaffected, and you can sign in to Google services with either your new or old email. You can also choose to reuse your old address at any time.<\/p>\n
One thing to note is that you can only change your address once a year<\/b>. Moreover, Google will only let you create three new addresses in total.<\/p>\n
It appears that this feature is not available to all users yet<\/b> (we\u2019ve tried, and we don\u2019t see the option), but according to 9to5 Google, it is being gradually rolled out to all users.<\/p>\n
