{"id":23049,"date":"2025-12-26T03:11:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T19:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=23049"},"modified":"2025-12-26T03:11:49","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T19:11:49","slug":"graffiti-at-salvation-army-site-on-christmas-day-leads-to-womans-arrest-in-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=23049","title":{"rendered":"Graffiti at Salvation Army site on Christmas Day leads to woman\u2019s arrest in Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE, Dec 25 \u2014 A 43-year-old woman was arrested today after offensive graffiti was found sprayed across the walls and vehicles at a Salvation Army compound in Singapore\u2019s Upper Bukit Timah area, police said.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement cited by Singapore daily\u00a0<em>The Straits Times<\/em>, officers were alerted at about 9.15am today to graffiti at Praisehaven \u2013 The Salvation Army Singapore, located at 500 Upper Bukit Timah Road.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police said offensive words, sprayed in red paint, were found on the premises, including the building\u2019s walls and three vans. Investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Images uploaded to the Instagram page Sgfollowsall later in the afternoon showed at least three parked vehicles and two walls covered with large pieces of red and yellow cloth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The post said a staff member had discovered earlier in the morning that several parts of the walls and vehicles had been spray-painted, and that police were at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>When <em>The Straits Times<\/em> arrived at around 3.30pm, workers had just finished covering up the graffiti on both the exterior and interior walls, as well as on the white Salvation Army vans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Remnants of red paint were still visible on the vehicles. No police vehicles were seen in the compound, which was largely empty.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <em>The Straits Times<\/em>, Marc Lee, the public relations head at the Salvation Army Singapore, declined to disclose the words that were sprayed, saying they were \u201csensitive in nature and concerned religion\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He added that an officer who lives on the compound had discovered the graffiti at about 7.30am during a routine morning check.<\/p>\n<p>In their statement, police said they \u201ctake a very serious view of acts that threaten Singapore\u2019s racial and religious harmony\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch behaviour will not be condoned, and offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes just days after a separate security scare along the same road.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On December 21, a 26-year-old church volunteer was arrested for allegedly placing an item resembling an explosive device at St Joseph\u2019s Church.
