It will apply to ride bookings made through app-based platforms, such as its CDG Zig app, and Kris+.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Grab p<!-- -->assengers will pay $1.20, up from the current 90 cents, the firm said in an e-mail announcement on Dec 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">ComfortDelGro said the adjustment \u201chelps defray the operating expenses to support the Ministry of Manpower\u2019s (MOM) initiatives for CPF contributions and Work Injury Compensation (WIC) insurance for Platform Workers\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The hike will support upcoming updates to drivers\u2019 CPF contribution rates under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/more-than-8000-platform-workers-have-opted-in-for-higher-cpf-contributions-since-nov-mom?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">Platform Workers Act<\/p>\n<p><\/a>, said Grab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">It will also go towards platform maintenance and service improvements, as well as other welfare initiatives, <!-- -->Grab added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The new fee will apply <!-- -->only <!-- -->to transport rides, with other services \u2013 GrabFood, GrabMart and GrabExpress \u2013 remaining unchanged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Under the Platform Workers Act, which came into force in January, it is mandatory for younger platform workers born on or after Jan 1, 1995, to contribute more to their CPF accounts.
