Singaporeans can now skip immigration queues at South Korea airports following the expansion of the country\u2019s automated immigration clearance system.<\/p>\n
In a Facebook post on\u00a0Dec 23,\u00a0the Singapore Embassy in Seoul\u00a0said the smart entry service auto-gate system has been available to\u00a0Singaporeans aged 17 and above entering and leaving\u00a0South Korea since\u00a0Dec 1.<\/p>\n
Travellers are required to complete a one-time, on-site registration when they arrive at Incheon International Airport.<\/p>\n
Once registered, travellers may use the e-gates immediately and at any airport in South Korea on subsequent visits.<\/p>\n
Registration is currently available only at Incheon International Airport, with a possible extension to other South Korean airports in the future.<\/p>\n
The registration remains valid until the traveller\u2019s current\u00a0passport expires.<\/p>\n
South Korea is a popular destination for Singaporeans, with about\u00a0380,000 of them travelling there in 2024,\u00a0according to\u00a0South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
Before the expansion of the automated clearance system, Singaporeans had to queue in a lane for foreigners for manual immigration inspection.<\/p>\n
Passport holders from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and the UK are also among those who will benefit from the automated system.<\/p>\n
