{"id":22576,"date":"2025-12-24T06:39:36","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T22:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=22576"},"modified":"2025-12-24T06:39:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T22:39:36","slug":"man-charged-with-causing-grievous-hurt-to-73-year-old-who-died-after-scuffle-at-woodlands-food-court-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=22576","title":{"rendered":"Man charged with causing grievous hurt to 73-year-old who died after scuffle at Woodlands food court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE: A man was charged on Tuesday (Dec 23) with seriously injuring a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/man-arrested-woodlands-food-court-scuffle-be-charged-5672651\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">73-year-old man who subsequently died after a scuffle<\/a> at a food court in Woodlands.<\/p>\n<p>Teo Eng Chye, 57, is accused of causing Mr Foo Suan Chew to suffer a fracture of his thyroid cartilage, which is in the neck.<\/p>\n<p>The charge sheets did not state how Teo allegedly caused the injury.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on Sunday night at Fork &amp; Spoon, an eatery owned by Koufu at Block 768 Woodlands Avenue 6.<\/p>\n<p>The police previously said they received a call for assistance at about 9.20pm.<\/p>\n<p>Upon their arrival, the older man was found unconscious. He was taken to the hospital where he subsequently died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary investigations revealed that the victim had purportedly gotten into a dispute with the 57-year-old man, which escalated into a scuffle,\u201d said the police.<\/p>\n<p>Teo was arrested on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>He remains in remand for investigations, with permission to be taken out for scene visits.
