If you would rather stay in this festive season than brave the elements or deal with holiday crowds, it is a great time to catch up on the year\u2019s stand-out television shows.<\/p>\n

Several titles got people watching and talking. In no particular order, here are seven shows that broke out in 2025.<\/p>\n

1. Dept. Q<\/h3>\n
When it comes to his television credits, Matthew Goode<\/span> has a history of being a \u201clate add\u201d to shows.<\/div>\n

He swept in to be Mary\u2019s love interest on Downton Abbey<\/em> after the death of Matthew Crawley. He joined season two of The Crown<\/em> as Antony Armstrong-Jones, known as Earl Snowdon. He was also added to The Good Wife<\/em> during Josh Charles\u2019 shocking final episode in the show\u2019s fifth season.<\/p>\n

In Dept. Q<\/em>, Goode leads as a curmudgeonly detective who assembles a team of misfits to solve cold cases. The show is based on a Danish book series and was renewed for a second season.<\/p>\n

According to Goode, producer Scott Frank transposed the story from the original Danish setting, Copenhagen, to Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
