In a Facebook post, Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs Faishal Ibrahim said the incident was deeply concerning but added that he was relieved the item was found to be harmless.<\/span><\/p>\n Calling the incident “unsettling”, Mr Faishal added: “<\/span>Our places of worship, whether churches, mosques, temples or others, must always remain safe spaces where congregants can pray and gather in peace. Any incident that threatens this sense of safety undermines the trust and harmony that bind us together as a society.<\/p>\n “Singapore is a multiracial and multi-religious nation. Mutual respect, understanding and the freedom to practise one\u2019s faith without fear are fundamental to who we are. We must reject actions that sow anxiety or create divisions, and remain vigilant in safeguarding our social cohesion.”<\/p>\n He also called on the Malay-Muslim community to stand in solidarity with their Christian friends during this period, noting how members of different faiths extended their support after an envelope containing pork was <\/span>sent to <\/span>Al-Istiqamah Mosque in Serangoon in September. A 61-year-old has since been charged with <\/span>deliberately intending to wound racial feelings<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo said the police and CBRE effectively dealt with the suspicious object.<\/span><\/p>\n “Thanks to the vigilance of the community, for the well wishes from all Singaporeans.
