SINGAPORE – The police are attending to a case of suspicious item found at St Joseph\u2019s Church on Dec 21.<\/p>\n
In a Facebook post on Dec 21, the police said that they were alerted to an incident at 620 Upper Bukit Timah at 7.10am.<\/p>\n
The police said that officers are at the scene attending to the incident.<\/p>\n
It also advised members of the public to avoid the location while police operations are ongoing. <\/p>\n
In an update, the police said that they have secured the area and the church has been evacuated while police operations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
When ST arrived at the church just before 9am, police officers were at the entrance directing vehicles away. No one was allowed to enter the premises.<\/p>\n
Church volunteers were spotted at the gate and a bus stop near the church advising would-be attendees that mass was cancelled.<\/p>\n
They could also be heard redirecting congregants to St Mary\u2019s of the Angels Church in Bukit Batok.<\/p>\n
At 9.17am, police K-9 and Singapore Civil Defence Force vehicles were seen entering the church premises.<\/p>\n
