The onset of the holidays means it is awards season in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

While plenty of this year\u2019s contenders, including Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s One Battle After Another<\/em><\/span> and Jon M. Chu\u2019s Wicked: For Good<\/em><\/span>, have already opened in Hong Kong cinemas, the likes of Marty Supreme<\/em>, starring best actor hopeful Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet, have yet to secure a release date.<\/div>\n
Similarly, the Hong Kong release of the season\u2019s biggest blockbuster, James Cameron\u2019s eagerly awaited Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em><\/span>, has been indefinitely postponed out of respect for the recent Tai Po fire<\/span> disaster.<\/div>\n

Despite these omissions, the next three months promise a bounty of top-tier entertainment to meet all audience tastes, from horror sequels to sci-fi adventures and awards hopefuls.<\/p>\n

Below are 12 of the biggest titles set to open in the city this winter (opening dates are for Hong Kong).<\/p>\n

1. Anaconda<\/h3>\n

In a novel approach to the Hollywood remake, Paul Rudd and Jack Black play best friends who set out to reboot their childhood favourite, the 1997 survival action movie Anaconda<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
