SINGAPORE \u2013 The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Dec 17 announced that it has suspended 10 travel agents over their failure to submit required documents.<\/p>\n
The companies had failed to submit their audited statements of accounts or annual business profile returns or both, it said in an advisory. <\/p>\n
Licensed travel agents are required to submit these documents within six months after the close of their financial year, it added.<\/p>\n
The 10 suspended travel agencies are:<\/p>\n
ASAP International Travel<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Asiagoodlife<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Betel Box Asia<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Fox Brothers Travel<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Go City Pass Asia<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Gululu<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Hotelux<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Huamei Holidays<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Native Inc<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Rayna Tours<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
These suspensions took effect on Dec 16 and will remain in effect until the documents are submitted, or for up to six months, whichever comes earlier. <\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the period of suspension, the travel agents will be required to fulfil their existing obligations to their customers but will not be allowed to accept new travel bookings,\u201d STB said.<\/p>\n
It added that it takes a serious view of errant travel agents and will not hesitate to take action to protect the reputation of Singapore\u2019s travel industry.<\/p>\n
Any travel agent that accepts new bookings during the suspension period will face enforcement action, it said.<\/p>\n
