The continued lead is hardly surprising: Dyson has turned its vacuums into lifestyle objects that combine engineering with a premium aesthetic that homeowners are proud to display (and show off). Its 2025 lineup continues with some remarkable models, such as the “world’s slimmest vacuum” in the PencilVac. I suspect the drop in share is less a sign of weakening appeal and more a reflection of a maturing market where alternatives have grown more convincing.

Airbot and Xiaomi improved their 2024 results, albeit marginally, as the value segment became more competitive. Brands like Dreame gained small but noticeable ground in 2025, thanks to improved presence at roadshows and digital marketing, and possibly also of its more modern designs that echo Dyson’s premium cues at far lower prices.

Traditional players such as Electrolux, Philips, and Kärcher continue to sit lower on the chart, and their incremental updates in 2025 weren’t enough to shift perception. Meanwhile, LG and Samsung have kept leaning into design-focused models, though their gains remain modest.

It’s hard to see Dyson losing its dominance in this category next year, and unless a competitor manages to replicate the British company’s mix of performance, branding, and desirability, the crown remains Dyson’s to lose.

Best Robot Vacuum Brand – Dyson

Image: HWZ

Surprisingly, Dyson remains the top robot vacuum brand in 2025, though its share dipped from 25% to just 23%. The continued lead reflects Dyson’s strong lifestyle positioning despite having just one robot vacuum launched over the last two years (the new Spot+Scrub AI was only launched weeks ago). It’s arguably due to the brand’s sense of premium design and engineering that resonates with buyers who see home appliances as extensions of their interior aesthetic. Even if Dyson isn’t always the most feature-packed in this category, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav is still one of the best at what it does on its own – vacuuming.

The slight drop in share appears to have been redistributed among mid-tier competitors. Xiaomi, for instance, slipped from 14% to 12.9%, likely due to stronger pressure from brands like Dreame, Roborock, and Airbot – each of which crossed the 10% mark in 2025. These brands have been aggressive with their value-driven models, pushing better AI mapping, improved mop-lift mechanisms, and more competitive pricing.

Traditional home appliance brands like LG, Samsung, Electrolux, and Philips continue to hover in the lower single digits, despite releasing more modern-looking robot vacuums. Their brand identities still lean more towards conventional home appliances, which may struggle to stand out against the robotics-focused marketing of the newer players from China.

Best Air Purifier Brand – Dyson

Image: HWZ

While its vacuum products faced challenges from competitors in 2025, Dyson remains the top pick for Best Air Purifier Brand – holding a consistent 23% share across 2024 and 2025. It’s clear that our readers are immense fans – pun intended – of the company’s fan-purifier systems that not only work great, but also look great – thanks to its premium designs that are also not easily mimicked by the competition.

The real movement happened just beneath the top spot. Sterra, a Singapore-founded brand, slipped from 14% in 2024 to 11.9% in 2025. Certainly, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) calling the brand out for misleading claims about Singapore tap water quality didn’t help. That said, it’s still a strong contender in this category, behind Xiaomi by only a sliver of percentage.

Speaking of Xiaomi, the brand held steady at 12.6%, likely thanks to its wide ecosystem and accessible price points, while Novita and Daikin both saw incremental gains. Traditional global brands such as Honeywell, Philips, LG, and Electrolux continue to occupy the mid–low tier. Their shares barely moved year-on-year, which seems to suggest a stable but unexciting line-up in 2025.

Best Washing Machine Brand – LG

Image: HWZ

LG is now the most popular brand for washing machine among our readers for two straight years. Despite the slight dip (LG scored 26% last year), the Korean giant continues to be the go-to choice for many households, and this is likely due in large part to it having a wide range of models – from compact washers to high-capacity front loaders – that help the brand appeal to both HDB and condo homeowners.

Samsung remains a very close second, though its share slipped marginally this year – from 25% to 23%. While Samsung continues to innovate with smart connectivity, EcoBubble technology, and BeSpoke AI laundry for high-capacity washers, 2025 saw LG gain more traction in the mid-range models that most families shop for. Bosch and Electrolux each maintained a stable 8–9% share, driven by their reputation for durability and efficient European designs – though their higher pricing likely limits broader adoption.

Brands like Panasonic, Hitachi and Midea continue to hover in the mid-single digits, showing consistent yet modest appeal, particularly among buyers prioritising price over advanced features. The brand’s enduring lead comes from its strong presence in the premium and family-size fridge segment – including French-door and large-capacity models that are especially popular with larger households. Its smart features, such as Family Hub screens and AI-powered temperature optimisation, also continue to appeal to tech-savvy homeowners. The small drop in share likely reflects a more competitive field rather than any loss in consumer confidence. With Samsung’s leading role in home appliances and its AI-powered experiences across its devices, it will be interesting to see whether this focus aligns with consumers’ interests and helps grow its market share again.

LG remains a very close second, and consistent too – holding steady at 21–21.5% these two years, thanks to competitively priced models. The continued neck-and-neck race between Samsung and LG shows just how dominant the Korean brands are in this category.

On the lower-end of the chart, Hitachi saw a modest gain; rising from 11% to 12.4%, likely helped by its stronger availability in compact, Japan-style fridge formats that are suited for smaller kitchens. Meanwhile, brands like Bosch, Panasonic and Electrolux maintained their mid-single-digit range, and it’s not likely any of these brands here will be able to break up the duopoly of Samsung and LG here in the near future.

That wraps up the Readers’ Choice voting segment for the Best of Home Appliances and we hope the next time you need to shop for a home appliance in a jiffy, you know which brands to look out for.
