Apple <\/b>is expected to bring three major upgrades<\/b> to its next Studio Display, the brand\u2019s standalone desktop monitor.<\/p>\n
According to Macworld\u2019s reporting based on leaked coding, the Apple Studio Display 2 will support variable refresh rates of up to 120Hz, <\/b>as well as HDR content<\/b>. These two features are notably absent from the existing model, despite being widespread in mid-range to high-end phones and tablets (including Apple\u2019s own).<\/p>\n
The jump to higher refresh rates also suggests that Apple may be equipping the new display with an upgraded panel. Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultant (DSCC), has previously shared that Apple could shift from the current LCD to mini-LED<\/b>, which may offer deeper blacks and improved contrast ratios.<\/p>\n
The leaked Apple code also includes a \u201cJ527\u201d identifier for the Studio Display 2, suggesting the A19 chip may power it. MacRumours previously reported that the more powerful A19 Pro chip may be used instead.<\/p>\n
Apple unveiled the first-generation Studio Display back in 2022. It has a 27-inch 5K Retina Display with 600 nits of brightness, an A13 Bionic chip, a 12MP front-facing camera, and a 6-speaker system. The Studio Display 2 is tipped to be unveiled in spring 2026.<\/p>\n
