A Serangoon North resident called the police over people making loud music in the neighbourhood \u2013 and it got worse.<\/p>\n
Stomper Anonymous<\/b><\/span> said it happened on the evening of Dec 1.<\/p>\n The noise at the Serangoon North Avenue 1 block started at about 7.30pm.<\/p>\n “I called 999 and the police came at 8.15pm,” recounted the Stomper. “Unexpectedly, it became worse.<\/p>\n “They hired a whole group of people in the common corridor on level one with musical instruments and speakers. No one could stop them.<\/p>\n “They placed their prayer thing with something like a weapon outside the flat in the common corridor as well. It scared kids who passed by at night.”<\/p>\n The Stomper contacted the town council.<\/p>\n He said: “EMS (Essential Maintenance Service) was only available to assist with registering the case. No one was able to attend.”<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said: “The town council engaged the flat owners on Dec 1 after receiving feedback from residents, reminding them of the guidelines on the proper use of common areas in residential estates and encouraging them to refrain from actions that could affect the comfort and harmony of the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n “We also wish to clarify that the role of the Essential Maintenance Service Unit (EMSU) is to handle urgent maintenance and essential service requests from residents, especially outside office hours, such as lift failures and rescues, utility supply breakdowns, and other common property-related emergencies.”<\/p>\n The spokesperson added: “Separately, residents are advised to call 999 immediately if they observe any display of weapons that may threaten their safety.”<\/p>\n
