{"id":19359,"date":"2025-12-13T14:02:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T06:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=19359"},"modified":"2025-12-13T14:02:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T06:02:00","slug":"zubeen-garg-death-spore-festival-organiser-among-4-charged-with-murder-by-indian-investigators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=19359","title":{"rendered":"Zubeen Garg death: S\u2019pore festival organiser among 4 charged with murder by Indian investigators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">NEW DELHI <!-- -->\u2013<!-- --> <!-- -->A Special Investigation Team (SIT) in India<!-- --> probing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/asia\/south-asia\/indian-singer-zubeen-garg-dies-after-scuba-diving-accident-in-singapore?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg<\/p>\n<p><\/a> on <!-- -->Dec 12<!-- --> filed its charge sheet for the case at the Chief Judicial Magistrate\u2019s (CJM) Court in Guwahati city, Assam state. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The 3,500-page document was submitted by SIT member Rosy Kalita in the presence of senior officials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In it, the SIT charged four people, including the organiser of the festival in Singapore, Shyamkanu Mahanta, with murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Siddhartha Sharma, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta are the three other associates of the late singer who have been charged with the murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Garg\u2019s cousin, suspended police officer Sandipan Garg, has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the SIT charge sheet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The charge sheet names a total of seven suspects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">While four of them have been charged with murder, others face charges of abetment, culpable homicide and breach of trust.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances on Sept 19 in Singapore. He had gone there to attend the North East India Festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that it was a clear-cut murder with a shocking motive.
