The Malaysian ringgit hit its highest against the U.S. dollar in four years, bouncing to RM4.0938 against the greenback. The 0.3 per cent rise on Dec. 12 marks the ringgit’s highest against the U.S. dollar since May 2021. It also gained 0.3 per cent overnight to 3.1709 per Singdollar. Bloomberg cited fiscal reforms in Malaysia, eased tensions in U.S.-China trade relations, and an export-driven economy as global demand for goods return as some factors to the ringgit getting stronger.
