It is a designation celebrated alongside the more well-known Unesco list of World Heritage sites, on which Italy is well represented with locations like <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Rome\u2019s Colosseum<\/span> and the ancient city of Pompeii.<\/div>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">The citation did not mention specific dishes, recipes or regional specialities, but highlighted the cultural importance Italians place on the rituals of cooking and eating: the Sunday family lunch, the tradition of grandmothers teaching grandchildren how to fold <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">tortellini<\/span> dough just so, even the act of coming together to share a meal.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cCooking is a gesture of love, a way in which we tell something about ourselves to others and how we take care of others,\u201d said Pier Luigi Petrillo, a member of the Italian Unesco campaign and professor of comparative law at Rome\u2019s La Sapienza University.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThis tradition of being at the table, of stopping for a while at lunch, a bit longer at dinner, and even longer for big occasions, it\u2019s not very common around the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/lifestyle\/food-drink\/article\/3336034\/unesco-adds-italian-cuisine-and-its-rituals-world-cultural-heritage-list?utm_source=rss_feed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article At Source <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Italian food is known and loved around the world for its fresh ingredients and palate-pleasing tastes.
