Pebble<\/b>, which returned to the smartwatch scene earlier this year, has introduced its first smart ring. <\/b>It does not require an Internet connection, subscription or battery charging.<\/p>\n
The Pebble Index 01<\/b> is built from 316 stainless steel with a built-in battery<\/b>. Other trimmings include a liquid silicone rubber button<\/b> and microphone<\/b>, and the ring is made for one purpose: to act as an external memory for your brain. <\/p>\n
To record with it, the user holds the button, whispers their thoughts at the Pebble Index 01 to capture it as a note, and sets it as a reminder or saves it for later use.<\/p>\n
Because the Index 01 does not rely on cloud services<\/b>, all voice memos are processed on your connected phone <\/b>using open-source speech-to-text and AI models that support over 99 languages. <\/p>\n
The connection between the smart ring and your phone is also encrypted. <\/b>When your phone is out of range, Index 01 can still save up to five minutes of audio for syncing later.<\/p>\nWait, the Pebble Index 01 has a built-in battery but no charging?<\/h2>\n
Pebble says Index 01 is intentionally a single-use, non-rechargable<\/b> product for two reasons:<\/p>\n Inside is a silver-oxide battery rated for 12 to 15 hours of recording<\/b>, translating to roughly two years of typical use<\/b>. When the battery is nearing depletion, the Pebble app will prompt you to order a replacement ring.<\/p>\n Other specs include water resistance up to 1 metre depth<\/b>, alongside Android and iPhone compatibility<\/b>, and configurable single-or double-click actions<\/b> for tasks like taking photos or toggling lights.<\/p>\n Priced at US$75 (~S$97),<\/b> the Index 01 is now available for pre-order<\/b> on Pebble\u2019s website.
