This health scare offers insights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"article-body-container\">\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">A HEALTH scare that my husband suffered last month surfaced some perspectives on why a significant number of people, particularly seniors, may consider giving up their Integrated Shield Plans (IPs). <\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">After the experience, I myself wondered \u2013 should we drop IPs altogether? We already downgraded from a private hospital plan some years ago to a Class A restructured hospital IP. We did not purchase riders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">At that point, escalating premiums at older ages were a factor.
