{"id":17574,"date":"2025-12-07T13:32:41","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T05:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=17574"},"modified":"2025-12-07T13:32:41","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T05:32:41","slug":"lta-seeks-descendants-of-four-people-in-unmarked-graves-discovered-in-bukit-timah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=17574","title":{"rendered":"LTA seeks descendants of four people in unmarked graves discovered in Bukit Timah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Wanted: The descendants of four individuals in unmarked graves that have been unearthed in the Bukit Timah area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\"><span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaobao.com.sg\/news\/singapore\/story20251205-7920758\" target=\"_blank\">Shin Min Daily News<\/a><\/span> reported that four coffins, which were interred without tombstones, were discovered during construction work at a building site behind KK Women and Children&#8217;s Hospital, located along Bukit Timah Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The site is on the North-South Corridor, which connects Kampong Java Road and Suffolk Walk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">On Dec 3, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) placed newspaper notices announcing the discovery, and appealing for descendants of the deceased to come forward and claim them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">According to the notice, the remains will be disposed of if the coffins are not claimed within 14 days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">A Shin Min reporter who visited the site on Dec 5 observed signs of excavation at the construction site, with three signs marked &#8220;C03,&#8221; &#8220;C05,&#8221; and &#8220;C08&#8221; respectively.
