{"id":17238,"date":"2025-12-06T05:17:43","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T21:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=17238"},"modified":"2025-12-06T05:17:43","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T21:17:43","slug":"flash-floods-hit-four-areas-in-western-spore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=17238","title":{"rendered":"Flash floods hit four areas in western S\u2019pore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013<!-- --> Flash floods affected several areas in the west of Singapore on the afternoon of Dec 4 after thundery showers hit many parts of the island. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a Facebook post, national water agency PUB said flash floods occurred at the following locations after intense rain temporarily overwhelmed the capacity of surrounding drains and canals:<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-list-container\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-test-id\">\n<ul class=\"pl-22 list-disc article-list-wrapper\">\n<li class=\"article-list-item list-item\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-item-test-id\">\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Pandan Road<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-list-item list-item\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-item-test-id\">\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Boon Lay Avenue (between Jalan Boon Lay and Boon Lay Drive)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-list-item list-item\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-item-test-id\">\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Junction of Boon Lay Way and Corporation Road<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-list-item list-item\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-item-test-id\">\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Pesawat Drive (before Jurong Port Road)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Heavy rain was expected across many areas of the island from 2.40pm to 3.45pm, said the National Environment Agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cThe heaviest rainfall of 113.4mm was recorded in western Singapore from 1.45pm to 3.25pm. This amount corresponds to 36 per cent of Singapore\u2019s average monthly rainfall in December, and lies within the top 2 per cent of maximum daily rainfall records since 1978,\u201d said PUB in the Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The agency added that it deployed its Quick Response Team to direct traffic away from the lanes affected by the floods and to assist motorists. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">PUB had earlier warned on social media platform X that roads in the south, south-west and west of Singapore were also to be avoided due to the risk of flash floods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">These areas were: <\/p>\n<div class=\"article-list-container\" data-testid=\"bulleted-article-list-test-id\">\n<ul class=\"pl-22
