Not only are the triple rear Hasselblad<\/b>-partnered cameras even sharper than before, OPPO also upgraded the rear with a 200MP telephoto<\/b> camera to defy expectations.<\/p>\nWhile its mainstay physical camera button returns, it is now accompanied by a new customisable friend called Snap Key<\/b>, which works with the new AI Mind Space feature. We\u2019ll also go through all these features below in greater detail.<\/p>\nThat\u2019s not forgetting one of the largest battery capacity upgrades we\u2019ve seen in a modern Android smartphone, going up to 7,500mAh<\/b> thanks to OPPO\u2019s updated silicon-carbon battery mix. If you recall, the predecessor (Find X8 Pro) was a competent all-around phone, but it still had a remarkably Chinese Android design language with a comically large rear camera housing and tapered back.<\/p>\nWith the Find X9 Pro, OPPO has decided it should take design lessons from Apple and their iPhones instead. The phone\u2019s rear cameras are cornered together in a raised island, accompanied by a subtle, encircled \u201cH\u201d logo that looks familiar to both Hasselblad and Haidilao patrons.<\/p>\n\nOPPO Find X9 Pro, back.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nFind X9 Pro also has the modern iPhone\u2019s flushed back and sides with curved corners. Heck, even its dimensions (76.46mm) and weight (224g) are similar. The only ways to tell them apart (besides being an Android) is via the phone\u2019s colours (most markets get Titanium Charcoal or Silk White) and the oblong-shaped camera hole for telephoto cameras.<\/p>\nWhat\u2019s interesting is how OPPO also went all out to cover a series of wet-weather assurances by snapping up IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. There\u2019s plenty to munch on from that visit, so we have it all in its own article here<\/u>.<\/p>\nDespite using an uncommon 1200p resolution, the 6.78-inch display could handle anything we threw at it, including 4K60FPS YouTube videos and high framerate gaming. Above all, we also did a sweep to check for bloatware.<\/p>\nThe Find X9 Pro\u2019s pre-loaded apps are mostly familiar, such as Amazon, Facebook, iQiyi, Shopee, Trip.com<\/u>, and more. There are also other semi-useful OPPO-made apps, such as Phone Manager and Game Assistant, as well as at least two folders full of app recommendations (not pre-installed).<\/p>\nWhen it comes to bloatware, we would have preferred having the phone ask if we wanted those apps during setup. It would have saved us time spent on deleting placeholder icons. It also relies on OPPO AI to automatically organise information. This is really handy for people who heavily rely on screenshots to remember things, whether at work or for personal use.<\/p>\nOPPO went a step further for AI Mind Space by making it compatible with the phone\u2019s built-in Google Gemini AI. This is on top of Gemini Live\u2019s default screen-sharing assistance you could do on other Gemini-compatible Android phones.<\/p>\nIn our trials, we found AI Mind Space helpful given its smart sorting with descriptions, but nothing of value could be gleaned when we started giving OPPO AI harder questions. For example, snapping up all the online shopping deals during official work hours proved really helpful, and it even sets reminders for any promotional periods you see in your snaps. However, you\u2019re better off asking Gemini to suggest ideas, because the OPPO AI replies feel primitive and superficial.<\/p>\nThe rest of OPPO Find X9 Pro\u2019s AI features should be familiar to you if you\u2019ve touched a relatively modern AI-powered phone in the last three years. Find X9 Pro still has AI Summary, AI Writer, AI Recorder, and even AI-powered photo editing.<\/p>\nWhat we liked best, however, is how OPPO presents AI smarts in a non-intrusive manne<\/b>r. The Find X9 Pro doesn\u2019t make AI its entire personality like a certain Galaxy AI does. They only appear when you look for them or use them, so there\u2019s no distraction, nor would you forget or wonder if the phone has \u201cthis\u201d or \u201cthat\u201d AI feature available.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nImage: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOPPO AI\u2019s training and contextual understanding still have a long way to go, as it lacks agentic understanding. It can handle straightforward tasks like summarisation, but it couldn\u2019t help us delete unwanted apps \u201cbecause it\u2019s an AI\u201d (they ownself say one). The suggestions can be harmful to the less tech-inclined, as it told us to delete essential apps (which showed that it had merely read our screen capture). <\/p>\nFortunately, Gemini and Gemini Live fill that gap if you need AI that feels more dialled in.<\/p>\nSnap Key and Quick Button<\/h2>\nOn the left side of the Find X9 Pro is a physical Snap Key<\/b>, which serves as a customisable shortcut to common utility features. By default, it starts up ColorOS 16\u2019s AI Mind Space.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nImage: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nSnap Key is functionally identical to the Action Button that debuted on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max<\/u>. You can bind it to the phone\u2019s Ring\/Vibrate\/Silent Mode, Do Not Disturb function, the Camera app, torchlight, audio recording, translation, or screenshotting.\u00a0<\/p>\nLike the iPhone, you can only bind one action to Snap Key \u2014 so you can\u2019t have a single click be the Find X9 Pro\u2019s phone mute, while separately binding a long press as a screenshot.<\/p>\n\nOPPO Find X9 Pro\u2019s Quick Button<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOn the opposite rim below the power button is the Find X9 Pro\u2019s touch-sensitive Quick Button<\/b>. This tactile slate is solely for starting up and controlling the Camera app. It also responds to pressure.<\/p>\nBy \u201cdouble-clicking\u201d the Quick Button, you can start your Camera, while sliding the slate adjusts your zoom range. Squeezing down gently snaps a photo. All these functions still work even with winter gloves worn (we\u2019ve tried), and the pressure can be adjusted to your liking via the Settings app.<\/p>\nThe functionality is almost identical to the iPhone 16\u2019s Camera Control button. We say \u2018almost,\u2019 because holding the Quick Button doesn\u2019t take a screenshot that an AI can analyse, as with iPhones. Instead of pixel-binning their snaps to 12MP<\/u> in favour of better lighting (like its main shooting mode), you can get 50MP or 200MP that is supposedly even better at catching details, but at the cost of bigger file sizes.<\/p>\nNote: You can disable the 50MP default shooting mode if you prefer to save storage space. Go to the Camera app, find its Settings in the top-right corner, and locate the Format sub-category. Select \u201cStandard\u201d instead of \u201cHigh Resolution\u201d.<\/p>\nIt\u2019s worth noting that the Hasselblad optimisation here refers to the phone\u2019s default colour science, the ultrawide XPAN shooting mode, and the subject separation in Hasselblad Portrait mode.\u00a0<\/p>\nHowever, OPPO has the added advantage of Master Mode, which lets you control the colour tuning of your shots without downloading a third-party camera app (unlike Xiaomi\u2019s compulsory Leica colour profiles<\/u>).<\/p>\nIf it wasn\u2019t already obvious, the OPPO Find X9 Pro excels in colourisation, detailing, and noise control. You could probably nitpick about the contrast handling, given how the overcast sky still blows out the brighter highlights of the image. The technical details and comparisons to its predecessor can be found in our coverage here<\/u>.\u00a0<\/p>\nThis MediaTek chipset is the successor to the one found in the previous Find X8 Pro<\/u>, and it\u2019s designed to go up against its perennial rival (Qualcomm)\u2019s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5<\/u> as a fellow premium flagship mobile processing package and platform.<\/p>\nNaturally, we\u2019d pit the Find X9 Pro against others of its price class, or at least against previous year\u2019s flagship phones. In real world use, it\u2019s capable of handling high framerate gaming, smooth video playback, smoother home screen browsing, while keeping to a comfortable temperature in hand.<\/p>\nBattery Life<\/h2>\nOur battery benchmark uses PCMark for Android\u2019s Work 3.0 Battery Life, with results shown in minutes. This controlled benchmark simulates real-world usage, such as web and social media browsing, video and photo editing, parsing data with various file formats, writing, and more. The increased capacity is a whopping 26.9% more than its predecessor<\/u>, despite both using silicon-carbon batteries.<\/p>\nThe battery life was astounding, to say the least. In our experience, early formulations of smartphone silicon-carbon batteries merely looked good on paper, but the higher mAh numbers they boasted didn\u2019t translate into vastly higher uptimes when stacked against older lithium-type batteries with smaller capacities.<\/p>\nFor the Find X9 Pro, we had to conduct the battery life test multiple times because we didn\u2019t believe the results at first. On average, it took us 23 hours 59 minutes to complete one (and it ends off with 20% left in tank each time).\u00a0<\/p>\nOutside of benchmarks, the phone can go a really long time without needing a charge \u2013 our record was using it for two full days (doing content creation, no less) before we even felt it needed a top-off. We can confidently say that the Find X9 Pro is a rare flagship Android with true all-day battery life, and it’s great that the phone comes in a normal size.\u00a0<\/p>\nOPPO also stated that the Find X9 Pro battery can retain up to 80% of its original capacity after five years of use, partly addressing concerns about the lifespans of newer silicon-carbon batteries when compared to traditional lithium-based batteries. Together, they complete the flagship phone, leaving only minor complaints in the box.<\/p>\nWhile OPPO made sure to give the Find X9 Pro new toys like AI Mind Snap, a better telephoto camera, and stronger assurances across multiple IP ratings, we think the device stands out for its true all-day battery life and a design that\u2019s no longer obtuse. <\/p>\nThe cherry on top? most of its AI features are actually helpful and not too intrusive, especially as AI fatigue has already begun to set in and users are becoming more conscious about how AI actually helps them use their phones better.<\/p>\nOur minor complaint is the bloatware which we had to remove. It\u2019s a really nitpicky thing, but having these \u201cadvertised\u201d apps not in your phone upon boot up would really seal the premium deal.<\/p>\nAgainst other flagship phones, one would usually pick the OPPO Find X9 Pro for its attention to photography perks. For example, snapping up all the online shopping deals during official work hours proved really helpful, and it even sets reminders for any promotional periods you see in your snaps. However, you\u2019re better off asking Gemini to suggest ideas, because the OPPO AI replies feel primitive and superficial.<\/p>\nThe rest of OPPO Find X9 Pro\u2019s AI features should be familiar to you if you\u2019ve touched a relatively modern AI-powered phone in the last three years. Find X9 Pro still has AI Summary, AI Writer, AI Recorder, and even AI-powered photo editing.<\/p>\nWhat we liked best, however, is how OPPO presents AI smarts in a non-intrusive manne<\/b>r. The Find X9 Pro doesn\u2019t make AI its entire personality like a certain Galaxy AI does. They only appear when you look for them or use them, so there\u2019s no distraction, nor would you forget or wonder if the phone has \u201cthis\u201d or \u201cthat\u201d AI feature available.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nImage: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOPPO AI\u2019s training and contextual understanding still have a long way to go, as it lacks agentic understanding. The suggestions can be harmful to the less tech-inclined, as it told us to delete essential apps (which showed that it had merely read our screen capture). <\/p>\nFortunately, Gemini and Gemini Live fill that gap if you need AI that feels more dialled in.<\/p>\nSnap Key and Quick Button<\/h2>\nOn the left side of the Find X9 Pro is a physical Snap Key<\/b>, which serves as a customisable shortcut to common utility features. By \u201cdouble-clicking\u201d the Quick Button, you can start your Camera, while sliding the slate adjusts your zoom range. Squeezing down gently snaps a photo. All these functions still work even with winter gloves worn (we\u2019ve tried), and the pressure can be adjusted to your liking via the Settings app.<\/p>\n
The functionality is almost identical to the iPhone 16\u2019s Camera Control button. We say \u2018almost,\u2019 because holding the Quick Button doesn\u2019t take a screenshot that an AI can analyse, as with iPhones. Instead, the OPPO Find X9 Pro already has a Circle To Search with Google, allowing you to ask Gemini what\u2019s being shown to you (triggered by holding down the Home button).<\/p>\n
OPPO Find X9 Pro\u2019s rear cameras<\/p>\n

Instead of pixel-binning their snaps to 12MP<\/u> in favour of better lighting (like its main shooting mode), you can get 50MP or 200MP that is supposedly even better at catching details, but at the cost of bigger file sizes.<\/p>\n
Note: You can disable the 50MP default shooting mode if you prefer to save storage space. Go to the Camera app, find its Settings in the top-right corner, and locate the Format sub-category. Select \u201cStandard\u201d instead of \u201cHigh Resolution\u201d.<\/p>\n
