{"id":16490,"date":"2025-12-03T20:26:39","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T12:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=16490"},"modified":"2025-12-03T20:26:39","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T12:26:39","slug":"double-decker-bus-narrowly-misses-woman-who-left-car-door-open-after-stopping-on-busy-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=16490","title":{"rendered":"Double-decker bus narrowly misses woman who left car door open after stopping on busy road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">A driver stopped her Opel car along a busy road outside Lorna Whiston Preschool (Greenwich) in Yio Chu Kang with no regard for oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Stomper <span><b>Xu<\/b><\/span>, who witnessed the incident on Nov 26 at about 4.45pm, said the driver stopped her car by the roadside to &#8220;pick up a child&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The passer-by told Stomp that the open door posed &#8220;extreme dangers to oncoming traffic&#8221; and increased the risk of an accident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">A video sent by Xu shows the driver getting out of the car while a double-decker bus passes by in the next lane, with her open door just inches away from the moving vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"video-container my-lg w-[620px] h-[349px]\" src=\"https:\/\/players.brightcove.net\/4802324446001\/default_default\/index.html?videoId=6385877757112\" title=\"#NoTapis\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Xu said the car remained in that position for about five to 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Under the Road Traffic Act, opening a car door in a manner that endangers other road users can lead to a fine of up to $2,000, a jail term of up to three months, or both.
