SINGAPORE \u2013 Expect thunder and rainy afternoons for the first two weeks of December, the weatherman said on Dec 1.<\/p>\n
Singapore\u2019s meteorological service, in its fortnightly weather update, also said showers may extend into the evening on a few of these days, with temperatures mostly hovering between 24 deg C and 33 deg C.<\/p>\n
Some days may reach a high of about 34 deg C.<\/p>\n
Total rainfall for the two weeks is expected to be near average over most parts of the island, with north-east monsoon conditions prevailing and winds blowing mainly from the north-west or north-east.<\/p>\n
The island and its surrounding region experienced inter-monsoon conditions in the middle of November with light winds.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the last week of November, the low-level winds strengthened and blew from the west, and, for periods, from the north-east,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
Thundery showers also fell over parts of the island on most days in the last two weeks of November, with thundery showers and gusty winds on some nights.<\/p>\n
Heavy thundery afternoon showers fell over many areas of the island on Nov 17, with Clementi clocking the highest rainfall recorded for the fortnight at 70.4mm.<\/p>\n
The mercury reached a high of between 32 deg C and 34 deg C on most days in the latter two weeks of November, said the Met service.<\/p>\n
The highest daily temperature during the period was 35.2 deg C, recorded at Paya Lebar on Nov 29.<\/p>\n
Rainfall was below average in most parts of Singapore in those two weeks, with the area around Sembawang receiving half the average amount. <\/p>\n
The area around Sentosa, however, had more rainy days, with 59 per cent more rainfall than average.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
