{"id":15176,"date":"2025-11-28T16:23:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T08:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=15176"},"modified":"2025-11-28T16:23:37","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T08:23:37","slug":"one-off-property-tax-rebate-in-2026-for-owner-occupied-hdb-and-private-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=15176","title":{"rendered":"One-off property tax rebate in 2026 for owner-occupied HDB and private homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 Singaporeans will get a one-off property tax rebate of 15 per cent for owner-occupied HDB flats in 2026 to help ease the impact of property tax hikes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Those with owner-occupied private residential homes will also get a rebate of 10 per cent, capped at $500, said the Ministry of Finance and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore in a joint statement on Nov 28. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The move will help to cushion property tax increases for Singaporeans, amid a moderating residential rental market with modest increases in market rents, said the statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The rebate will be automatically offset against any property tax payable in the 2026 property tax bill, which owners will receive from December 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Property tax is calculated based on a property\u2019s annual value<!-- -->, which is the estimated rent a property can fetch in a year if rented out. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Government provided a similar rebate in 2024,<!-- --> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/one-off-property-tax-rebate-in-2025-vast-majority-of-home-owners-will-see-lower-tax-bill?ref=search-results&amp;ref=inline-article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">aimed at easing cost-of-living concerns for home owners<\/p>\n<p><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Home owners living in three-room and larger HDB flats will see an average property tax increase of $2 to $3 per month, after the tax rebate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">All one- and two-room HDB owner-occupiers will continue to pay no property tax.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Half of private property owner-occupiers will see a property tax increase of less than $6 per month, after the property tax rebate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The rest will see higher property tax increases, with their properties generally being of higher value, said the statement.   <\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"responsive-iframe-base none\" title=\"dynamic_iframe_wrapper\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/RTf1P\/1\/\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"accelerometer;undefinedclipboard-write;
