What happens if it injures others or explodes?? This is so dangerous to other commuters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">It is unclear when and on which MRT line the photo was taken. Stomp has reached out to the Redditor for clarification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Under <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lta.gov.sg\/content\/ltagov\/en\/getting_around\/active_mobility\/rules_and_public_education\/rules_and_code_of_conduct.html\" target=\"_blank\">Singapore&#8217;s Active Mobility Act<\/a><\/span>, PMAs must have only one seat and be used by a person who has difficulty walking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">They may be used on public transport as long as they meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"font-secondary list-outside list-disc pl-lg pt-md text-grayscale-800 lg:pl-xl\">\n<li>Total weight (including user): 300kg<\/li>\n<li>Length: 120cm<\/li>\n<li>Width: 70cm<\/li>\n<li>Height (from floor to top of PMA or user&#8217;s head when seated, whichever is higher): 150cm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">Misuse and abuse?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Some Reddit users questioned whether all PMA riders genuinely required the device to get around.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">User Keitaru84 suggested that authorities &#8220;should make them present their official medical licence to own PMD&#8221;. Others echoed this, saying the man in the photo appeared &#8220;perfectly ok&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">But Redditor alexstonks34 pointed out that &#8220;not all disabilities are visually obvious&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Currently, under the<span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/the-invisible-struggles-of-those-with-hidden-conditions-on-public-transport\" target=\"_blank\"> &#8220;Helping Hand&#8221; scheme by the Caring SG Commuters Committee<\/a><\/span>, commuters with hidden or less visible conditions can request a yellow pass.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">The pass signals to others that they may need a seat or some assistance during their journey.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">Potential fire hazard<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">There were also worries about safety in the event of a battery malfunction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">User Any_Mechanic7876 commented that they &#8220;shudder to think if the battery start self combust&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">Such concerns have surfaced to Stomp many times by concerned Stompers. Most recently, Stomp was notified of a <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stomp.sg\/trending-now\/4-taken-hospital-200-evacuated-after-pma-fire-breaks-out-ang-mo-kio-block?ref=search\" target=\"_blank\" data-discover=\"true\">PMA fire that broke out at an Ang Mo Kio flat<\/a><\/span>, which resulted in four residents being taken to hospital and 200 others evacuated.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mb-[-8px] mt-lg font-primary text-22 font-bold leading-1.5\">No deliberate damage by PMAs so far<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-secondary pt-md text-18 font-normal leading-1.5 text-grayscale-800\">In a written response to a parliamentary question on <span><a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mot.gov.sg\/news\/details\/property-and-train-damage-caused-by-use-of-personal-mobility-aids-on-public-transport\" target=\"_blank\">damage caused by PMA on public transport infrastructure<\/a><\/span>, Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow said that there have been no reported cases of PMAs causing &#8220;deliberate damage&#8221;
