Arrowhead Game Studios CCO Johan Pilestedt has commented on what fans can expect from the Helldivers 2<\/strong><\/em> developer’s next game. Although fans shouldn’t expect another title from the Helldivers 2 <\/em>studio any time soon, Arrowhead already has one eye on the future.<\/p>\n

Arrowhead Game Studios sprang to prominence with the release of Helldivers 2 <\/em>last year. Its unexpected massive success meant the developer was suddenly involved with maintaining one of the biggest live-service games in the world, a tough ask for any studio. In the time since, Helldivers 2 <\/em>has gone through multiple controversies, but it remains a thriving title with a dedicated player base. When developer Arrowhead Game Studios eventually releases another game, it will no doubt spark a ton of curiosity about how the developer follows up on Helldivers 2<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n Arrowhead Dev Says Studio’s Next Game Will Be Similar to Helldivers 2

Speaking to GamesRadar+ at the Golden Joystick Awards 2025, Arrowhead Game Studios CCO Johan Pilestedt claimed the developer is “looking to continue the legacy of what we’ve created already” with its next game. “It won’t be something that’s too far off from Helldivers<\/em>, so all of the people that are massive Helldivers <\/em>fans will be able to jump into the next game as well and recognize the DNA, at least,” said Pilestedt. They are comments that will surely come as a relief to Helldivers 2 <\/em>fans – it’s easy to forget that the 2024 sequel was a risky change in genre for the Helldivers<\/em> franchise, one that paid off massively.<\/p>\n

But players shouldn’t expect this mystery game to arrive anytime soon. Pilestedt explained that Arrowhead’s next title is still at the start of development. “It’s the part that I love the most,” he said. “When you get a new team together, break down all the boundaries between each other, really get to the heart of who we are as people, and what games do we want to make together.” <\/p>\n

There still remains the question of what Arrowhead’s next game will actually be. As of September 2025, the developer said it has no plans for Helldivers 3<\/em>, and comments made before this suggest it’s more likely that Helldivers 2<\/em>‘s continued support will effectively turn the 2024 game into its own sequel. And while some will find this disappointing, it does open the door for Arrowhead to become known as more than just the “Helldivers <\/em>studio,” a risk it would run by jumping straight into a sequel. It’s likely gamers still have a long wait before the developer is ready to unveil its next game, though.<\/p>\n
