SINGAPORE \u2013 A 72-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident with a tipper truck along the SLE towards CTE on the morning of Nov 22.<\/p>\n
In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident, which took place near the Woodlands Avenue 12 exit, at around 8.55am that day. <\/p>\n
The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.<\/p>\n
The tipper truck driver, 71, is assisting with ongoing investigations, the police added.<\/p>\n
In footage posted on social media, a blue police tent can be seen on the rightmost lane of the expressway. Both the rightmost lane and the lane next to it appear to be closed. A police car and a police van are seen at the accident site. A motorcycle is parked on the rightmost lane.<\/p>\n
The latest accident is the fifth reported fatal accident in more than two months involving a motorcyclist on Singapore roads. <\/p>\n
On Sept 9, a <\/p>\n 36-year-old motorcyclist died following an accident<\/p>\n <\/a> involving two motorcycles on the PIE.<\/p>\n A\u00a038-year-old\u00a0man <\/p>\n died after being involved in an accident<\/p>\n <\/a> along the\u00a0AYE towards Tuas\u00a0on the evening of\u00a0Oct 3<\/p>\n Just days later, on Oct 9, another <\/p>\n motorcyclist died after a collision<\/p>\n <\/a> with an SBS Transit bus on the PIE.<\/p>\n On Nov 10, a <\/p>\n 27-year-old motorcyclist died<\/p>\n <\/a> after an accident with a car on the same expressway.<\/p>\n The number of people killed and injured in traffic accidents\u00a0<\/p>\n hit a five-year high in 2024<\/p>\n <\/a>.<\/p>\n Traffic accidents killed 139 people in 2024, up from the 131 in 2023, according to statistics released by the Traffic Police. <\/p>\n In the first half of 2025 alone, <\/p>\n 78 fatal accidents were recorded<\/p>\n <\/a>, compared with 70 in the same period the year before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
