A diner said she fell ill after a meal of economy rice from a coffee shop stall in Toa Payoh.<\/p>\n
Stomper ieat ishoot icomplain<\/b><\/span> visited the Curry Mixed Veg Rice and Porridge stall at Block 116 Lorong 2 Toa Payoh on Nov 9.<\/p>\n Immediately, she grew concerned.<\/p>\n “Firstly, the server was unmasked and coughing into the food,” the Stomper said.<\/p>\n “Secondly, I noticed that the stall’s preparation area was dirty and the display area was badly stained.<\/p>\n “Thirdly, when I asked for the price of the stingray, the server quickly scooped the stingray up and placed it on my plate without even telling me the price.<\/p>\n “I was pretty annoyed by her behavior because I knew she would overcharge me. When it was time to pay, she told me the stingray cost $5.”<\/p>\n The Stomper said she paid to avoid an argument, but: “I instantly regretted paying when I bit into the stingray. The stingray meat was soft, tasteless and brittle.<\/p>\n “I had three sessions of diarrhoea the following day.”<\/p>\n She reported the incident to Stomp and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Nov 14. She also shared photos of her meal and the unmasked server at the stall.<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is investigating.<\/p>\n The agency added: “Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.<\/p>\n “Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n “SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices. As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.”<\/p>\n View more photos in the gallery.<\/p>\n
