Widodo warned, however, that existing global systems are becoming outdated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He urged international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and World Trade Organization (WTO) to modernise their frameworks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn this new era, companies, industries, private sector, almost all of them will use AI,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat means we must redefine our processes, our systems, our strategies \u2026 so we can grow faster \u2026 to get better economic growth, better life for the people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Looking beyond Indonesia, Widodo described Southeast Asia as a \u201cglobal force\u201d in the making.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He noted that an increasing number of young entrepreneurs are building startups and small businesses are moving online, positioning the region as an emerging innovation hub.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSoutheast Asia is no longer just a market; it is becoming a global force,\u201d he said. \u201cThe next unicorn may not come from Silicon Valley or Shenzhen \u2014 it may come from Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila or Hanoi.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Widodo concluded the interview with a call to prepare for the coming wave of AI and robotics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI believe that in the next five to 15 years \u2026 there will be a big humanoid robotic revolution (and) a big AI revolution,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, we must prepare from now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He said that with the right foundations \u2013 infrastructure, policies, education and cooperation \u2013 Indonesia and Southeast Asia can thrive in the new age of the intelligent economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\nSOUTHEAST ASIA & THE AI REVOLUTION<\/span><\/h2>\n
