A newly discovered Borderlands 4<\/em><\/strong> glitch can completely break meta builds rather easily, but Gearbox is already aware of it and is working on a fix. It’s uncertain what the timeline on that fix is, but Borderlands 4<\/em> fans will want to be mindful of the typical Thursday patch notes while using the glitch.<\/p>\n

Shared by content creator JoltzDude139 and first reported by GamesRadar, the end result is essentially duplicating skill points to the point that players can unlock all the skills they want. While there are plenty of OP builds in Borderlands 4<\/em>, it’s very clear that this one would break the balance of the game quickly.<\/p>\n
As JoltzDude139 explains, the glitch requires players to invest a certain number of skill points into any ability, have only one skill point remaining, and ensure that all abilities are not maxed out (being two points short). Once players have an ability they want, they go back to an earlier skill (with the one point) and dump the remaining skill points into the said ability. Then, they click ‘undo’ to reverse the process. What happens here is that instead of reimbursing the single skill in the ability, the function returns two. Borderlands <\/em>4 essentially thinks that players dumped more than one point when they didn’t, and players can repeat these until they have the broken build they want. Of course, constantly repeating this is tedious, as JoltzDude139 explained, but the possibilities of such builds would be totally game-breaking.<\/p>\n
Too game-breaking to let players run with, it seems, as Borderlands 4<\/em> creative director Graeme Timmins responded to Joltzdude139 with a simple, “We’re on it.” It’s uncertain how fast this will be fixed or where it falls in Gearbox’s current priorities, but given how potentially broken this is, fans can probably expect it sooner rather than later. Taking advantage of it then means fans will want to be quick, hop into the game, and get the process going. Unless it is done via a hotfix, fans can probably expect this to be fixed with the November 20 or November 27 patch; I don’t see it living until the end of the month, anyway.<\/p>\n
It’ll be interesting to see how the community reacts to this glitch and its pending fix. On the one hand, making ridiculously powerful builds in Borderlands 4<\/em> is part of the fun; on the other hand, this completely breaks the restraint of the game and isn’t really about builds as much as it is legitimately breaking the game. It’ll no doubt be fun to check out for a little bit, but if fans want to do that, they’ll need to be fast.<\/p>\n
