The Opposites hosts Showa-era Tainanese tea cocktail specialist Bar Lonely, while Madara unveils a new selection of signatures inspired by Shakespeare that features Japanese gins and liqueurs. Also offering bold new concoctions is Socio, which has expanded its menu as well as the number of neighbourhood partners to 16, continuing to reduce waste ingredients across Central.

Thursday, November 20

The Opposites x Bar Lonely

<img decoding="async" alt="Interior of The Opposites in Hong Kong. The Tainan watering hole is partnering with NIP Gin to present Bar Lonely’s unique approach to tea cocktails inspired by Japan’s Showa era. The original bar presents inspiring signatures like the M (Princess Princess 1988), inspired by the Zombie classic cocktail and combining rum, bourbon, Iron Buddha oolong tea, home-made falernum and more.

Where: LG/F, Hilltop Plaza, 49 Hollywood Road, Central

When: 8pm-11pm

Friday, November 21

Madara pays tribute to the Bard

<img decoding="async" alt="A Rose By Any Other Name at Madara, Hong Kong. Co-founder Rayven Leung and his team leverage the bar’s already keen expertise on tea and fruit cocktails in concoctions like the Musk Rose – Capricious Beauty, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the flower’s connection to the Fairy Queen. The drink features a Wa Bi Gin The Forest along with The Herbalist Yaso’s Absinthe prototype03.

Of course, no Shakespeare signature list is complete without a Romeo and Juliet cocktail, for which Madara answers with the Rose – A Rose by Any Other Name, inspired by Juliet’s monologue about names, fragrance, romance and destiny. This concoction uses the Wa Bi Gin Damask Rose and combines it with Liqueur De The Jossie Mate and fresh Japanese strawberries for a sweeter palate that packs a punch.

Where: 16/F, Circle Tower, 28 Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay

When: 5pm-1am

It’s a weekend of meticulous signatures.
