According to information from several outlets, Vendetta, the newly-revealed hero coming to Overwatch 2<\/strong><\/em> in Season 20, is going to be a damage-dealer. Though many suspected the gladiator would be a tank, it seems like Overwatch 2<\/em> might be getting its first dedicated melee DPS character instead.<\/p>\n

Overwatch 2<\/em> recently revealed Vendetta, a dangerous gladiator known as La Lupa who wields a sword of burning hardlight against her foes. Major parts of her backstory have been revealed in her cinematic, but the character\u2019s role and abilities have still not been officially revealed.<\/p>\n

That said, some sources have emerged that might have confirmed something unexpected about the hero. Despite having all the hallmarks of a tank, two sources have come forth claiming she is a damage-dealer. Polygon was the first to say Vendetta was a DPS hero, though it did not share where it got this information. Then, Esports.gg followed up with a similar claim, revealing it had been sent an email stating as much: “Overwatch 2<\/em>\u2019s 45th Hero steps into a spotlight built on a throne of violence, and her new Hero trailer pulls back the curtain on the Italian Damage Hero who turned her stolen future into a weapon.”<\/p>\n

Of note, no other official public Overwatch 2<\/em> channels have made mention of Vendetta\u2019s role or abilities at press time. It is possible this information could be mistaken or simply sent out ahead of schedule, but it does seem likely that Vendetta is joining the ranks of Overwatch 2<\/em>‘s damage heroes.<\/p>\n

As for her abilities, Vendetta can be seen blocking bullets with her sword, leaping high into the air, spinning her blade in a whirlwind, and cleaving a massive war machine in half with a blazing hardlight slash. Additionally, her secret mask in Overwatch 2<\/em> Season 19\u2019s Haunted Masquerade mode increased the wearer\u2019s movement and attack speeds when dealing melee or ability damage. Taking all of this into consideration, it sounds like Vendetta could play like a cross between Genji, Doomfist, and Fallen Knight Reinhardt from the Mirrorwatch game mode.<\/p>\n

Vendetta\u2019s Hero Trial in Overwatch 2<\/em> is currently scheduled to run from November 26 through December 1.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Regardless, this fearsome figure is the daughter of Antonio Giordani, a former Talon executive who was killed by Blackwatch during the Overwatch Retribution story missions, so Vendetta has a serious grudge against heroes from both organizations. Overwatch 2<\/em> also recently implemented an in-game Story feature, and concluded the Null Sector arc for the time being in the process. The stage is set for Vendetta to make a massive debut in the game, and it may end up becoming the next major antagonist for most of the playable cast of characters.<\/p>\n
